Halloween has become a popular holiday where some entertainments are featured such as costume parties and parades.  On Halloween, it was believed that ghosts come back that’s why people thought that they would encounter ghosts if they leave their homes. To avoid being recognized by these ghosts, people would wear masks when they leave their homes at nighttime so that the ghosts would mistake them for fellow spirits. Halloween is an event that is celebrated each year on October 31. It originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. Samhain (pronounced 'sow'inn') is a very important date in the Pagan calendar for it marks the Feast of the Dead. Many Pagans also celebrate it as the old Celtic  New Year  (although some mark this at  Imbolc ). It is also  celebrated  by non-Pagans who call this festival Halloween.
